Tires have some dry rot, underneath is pretty clean except floor pans everything else is solid. Needs some TLC here and there. Engine is not stock came from an 84 whatever. Body have a few bubbles under rear trim and inside rear doors. Not rotted through just surface. Trunk is clean. Interior needs to be re-done

Now that I've had time to calm down and think about it, I am going to go through the electrical (plugs, wires cap rotor timing etc)

When piston #1 is at TDC, the timing mark should be? at zero (0) on the timing gauge?

A friend of a friend of a friend is selling his 68 coronet 500. 318 auto with a 8 3/4. Car is in nice shape no rust or rot except the driver and pass floor pans. Overall nice car run and drives great.

What would be a fair price to ask for this car? He doesn't know what it's worth and neither do I. I was thinking of buying for myself but i don't want to insult him with a low price. Either way i figure asking a bunch of mopar guys i could get a good round about.

Okay, so I adjusted the mixing screw, idle and timing - then tried to drive up and down my driveway, same issue.

Once I made it back into the garage I jacked up the car, started it and put it in drive. Everything was fine, ran the transmission through a manual shift 1, 2 then D, stepping on the throttle each time, no issues.

Put the car back on the ground, back out of the garage and tried driving back into the garage, same issue  - when under load and you step on the throttle it coughs and stalls.  Now what.......

So I just finished the disassemble - cleaning  - resemble with new components on the carburetor.  When I removed the main jet and inspected it  I could see through it.  After cleaning it, the through hole was so much larger, I estimate that it was 80-90% clogged. Shocked

Tomorrow I will put the carb back on the car make some adjustments and try and drive!

I also found out that when carb cleaner sprays back at you and hit you in the face, it hurts like a Mother F*&^cker

Probably the carb needs to be cleaned and rebuilt after all this time.  I don't see any definite indication that you need to change out the driveline.

Anyone have a /6 3 speed automatic tranny they want to get rid of?

The car sat for 25 years befire I bought it.  Now after 2 years of being on jack stands I finally took the Dart off the stands and tried to drive her.  the engine stuggles to run when I am stepping on the gas to go forward and reverse.  I was able to drive about 30 yards forward adn back under idle and very little throttle, just enough to get the car to move.   If I try to give her more than a little throttle, she sputters and dies.  If I am in park or neutral, the engine runs runs at low and high RPM.

I changes the filter, fluid and added Sea Foam tranny additive,  but no luck.

thanks,
Mark
